Chapter 11

Emily held onto her Daddy’s hand as they entered the school. Nanny McKinney was showing them the way.

“Sir, this is the best place for Emily to be while you’re at work,” she assured him, knowing how hard it could be for a daddy to drop his baby off at a school when she didn’t know a soul. “She’ll make friends here.”

“Do you really think so, Nanny?” Emily asked her.

“I know so. You’re a nice girl from a good family.”

Emily beamed at her nanny.

Oliver grinned, thinking he’d chosen the perfect nanny for his wife.

“Family Keaton?” A woman came down the wide staircase and walked towards them.

“Yes, we’re the Keaton family,” Oliver proudly admitted.

“Good morning, I’m the director of this school. Welcome.” She turned to Emily. “You must be Emily. How do you do?”

Emily curtsied to the director. “I’m very well, thank you. And you?”

The director beamed at her. Emily was clearly a very well-adjusted child, who would do well here. “I’m well too. Would you like to join the class, Emily?”

“Yes, thank you.” Emily was eager to make new friends. She was used to being around other little girls, and she missed them.

The director held her hand out to Emily.

Emily took it and went with the nice director lady. She stopped before her daddy was out of sight and waved at him.

The director returned to Oliver a couple of minutes later. “Thank you for waiting. I saw to it that Emily was placed in her classroom. You’ll be happy to hear that she recognized another little girl from her orphanage. They were best friends there.”

“Samantha?” Oliver inquired.

“Yes, that’s right.” The director was pleased to hear that Mr. Keaton was the sort of daddy who listened to his wife. She gave him a tour of the school, telling him about security. It was especially important in cases like Emily’s. Because of her last name, she was a target to being kidnapped. Because of her daddy’s preferences, he could be a victim of blackmail.

“I’m not worried about that. I’m proud of my little wife, and I’d have no problem confessing to the world that I love her exactly the way she is.” Oliver wanted the director to know that he wasn’t interested in a diet or exercise program. “I will, however, keep that to myself to protect the other daddies and little girls who attend this school.”

“I’m very glad to hear that, Mr. Keaton.”

“Tell me about the school meals. I want to make sure my wife will be getting all the vitamins she needs to grow.”

“I assure you, our kitchen staff is second to none. Your little girl will be able to eat until she’s full. The cooks take great pride on preparing a variety of dishes that cover the nutritional recommendations. The girls can choose from several different meals each day. Naturally, they combine things, and the portions are given as the girls specify, unless, of course, the girl has an eating disorder. Such little girls have to take a certain amount of food and eat it.
